What Is a CNC Machine and How Is It Built?
A CNC system consists of three fundamental elements:
- Part program
- CNC control unit
- Machine mechanics and cutting or drilling tools, such as drill bits, milling cutters and saw blades
Part Program: The part program is the sequence of instructions that the machine mechanisms and axes must follow. Each command defines a position in the Cartesian coordinate system or specifies motor travel, speed, the tool to be used and the required machining operation.
